Who We Are

Nepal's Mountains,
Guided by Those Who Call Them Home

View Himalaya was founded in Kathmandu by a team of born-and-raised Nepali mountain guides who believed that the best way to share their homeland was with total honesty, personal care, and a deep respect for the communities along every trail.

Every guide on our roster holds a government-issued trekking licence, carries certified wilderness first-aid training, and has personally completed the routes they lead — often dozens of times across different seasons. When you walk with us, you walk with someone who knows the name of the family running that teahouse in Namche Bazaar, which high pass is treacherous after fresh snowfall, and exactly how to pace the Thorong La crossing so every guest reaches the other side safely.

Since our founding, we have escorted more than 3,200 trekkers from over 60 countries through Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan. We have maintained a 97 percent trek-completion rate — a figure we are proud of not because it reflects commercial efficiency, but because it reflects the thorough acclimatisation schedules, flexible itineraries, and honest daily health assessments that protect every person in our care.

We also give back. A fixed portion of every booking supports local porters' welfare programmes, rural school infrastructure in the Khumbu and Annapurna regions, and low-waste trail stewardship initiatives. When you book with View Himalaya, your adventure funds something lasting for the communities that make it possible.

Plan It

Why View Himalaya

Every Detail Planned.
Every Moment Yours.

We've spent over a decade refining what an exceptional Himalayan trek feels like — from the first email to the last teahouse breakfast.

Safety Above All

Every guide carries a pulse oximeter, first-aid kit, and supplemental oxygen. We build mandatory acclimatisation rest days into every itinerary and maintain 24/7 emergency support throughout your trek.

Flexible & Custom

No cookie-cutter packages. Choose your pace, your accommodation tier, your side trips. We write every itinerary from scratch to match your fitness, budget, and schedule.

Local at Heart

We are Nepali. Our guides grew up in the shadow of these mountains. That local knowledge — teahouse recommendations, weather reading, cultural insight — cannot be downloaded from the internet.

Honest Pricing

Our packages are fully inclusive with no hidden costs. We list exactly what is and is not covered. When you see a price from View Himalaya, it is the price you pay.

When to Go

Nepal's Four Trekking Seasons:
Which Is Right for You?

Nepal can be trekked year-round, but each season brings a completely different experience. Here's our honest guide based on 14 years of leading people through every condition.

Spring
March · April · May

Rhododendron forests blaze crimson and pink across the mid-hills. Daytime temperatures are pleasant, views are excellent before the pre-monsoon haze, and wildlife is most active. Our most popular season — book early.

Monsoon
June · July · August

Nepal's monsoon brings lush greenery and dramatically fewer trekkers on the trail. Rain-shadow regions like Upper Mustang and Dolpo remain dry and are best visited now. Not ideal for most standard routes.

Autumn
September · October · November

Nepal's most celebrated season. The post-monsoon air is washed clean, delivering the most reliable mountain views of the year. October and November offer crystalline skies and firm, dry trail conditions throughout.

Winter
December · January · February

Cold and clear. High-altitude routes like EBC and Manaslu require serious cold-weather preparation, but lower trekking circuits (Poon Hill, Langtang) are beautiful and uncrowded. Outstanding for photography.

Trekker Stories

3,200 Summits. 3,200 Stories.

The mountains are extraordinary. But it's the people who make a trek truly memorable. Here's what our trekkers say.

Our guide, Dawa, was the most knowledgeable person I have ever spent time with in the mountains. He monitored our oxygen levels every morning, made acclimatisation calls based on how we actually felt — not a rigid schedule — and still managed to tell the most extraordinary stories about Sherpa history every evening at dinner. Everest Base Camp felt genuinely earned and completely safe.

I have trekked on four continents and the Manaslu Circuit with View Himalaya was the most immersive and beautifully organised experience I have ever had. The logistics were flawless — permits, teahouses, daily briefings — and the team took genuine pride in the communities they work with. I left feeling like a guest of Nepal, not just a tourist passing through.

Marco F.
Manaslu Circuit Trek · Zürich, Switzerland

I came to Nepal as a solo female traveller and I was slightly apprehensive. View Himalaya addressed every concern before I even asked. My guide, Pemba, was thoughtful and professional throughout the Annapurna Circuit. The itinerary gave me enough time at each village to actually connect with people, not just tick off checkpoints. I am already planning my next trip — Langtang in autumn.

Common Questions

Everything You Need
to Know Before You Go

Fourteen years of fielding questions from trekkers around the world. Here are the ones that matter most.

The two premier trekking windows are spring (March to May) and autumn (October to November). Spring brings flowering rhododendrons and lush, warm trail conditions. Autumn delivers the clearest mountain views of the year after the monsoon washes the sky clean. Both seasons have excellent trail conditions and reliable weather. If you can only choose one, most experienced trekkers prefer mid-October to mid-November for visibility and comfort.
No mountaineering or technical climbing experience is required for Everest Base Camp. You do not need to use crampons or ropes. However, a solid baseline of cardiovascular fitness makes a significant difference. We recommend 8 to 12 weeks of preparation that includes regular hiking, running, or cycling. If you can comfortably hike 15 km with a light pack on consecutive days, you are ready. Our guides will assess your condition each morning and adapt the pace accordingly.
Most Nepal treks require a TIMS card (Trekkers' Information Management System) plus a national park or conservation area entry permit. Restricted-area routes such as Upper Mustang, Dolpo, Kangchenjunga, and Manaslu require additional special permits, which we apply for several weeks in advance on your behalf. All permit costs for your specific route are included in your package price. You do not need to visit any government office — we handle everything.
We strongly require all trekkers to carry travel insurance that includes high-altitude helicopter rescue evacuation to at least 6,000 m (even if your trek only reaches 5,500 m, as emergency landings may need higher ground). Your policy should also cover trip cancellation, medical treatment in Nepal, and emergency repatriation. Many standard travel insurers now cover Himalayan trekking — please provide your policy details before departure so our emergency contacts can coordinate quickly if needed.
The most effective protection against acute mountain sickness (AMS) is a carefully paced ascent with proper acclimatisation rest days — which we build into every itinerary. The golden rule is: climb high, sleep low. Stay well hydrated (3 to 4 litres of water per day), avoid alcohol in the first days at altitude, and never ignore symptoms. Our guides are trained to recognise early AMS signs including headache, nausea, and fatigue, and will make descent decisions without hesitation if required. Some trekkers take Diamox (acetazolamide) as a prophylactic — consult your doctor before your trip.
Included: airport transfers in Kathmandu, government-licensed trekking guide, porter service (one porter per two trekkers), all required permits and entry fees, teahouse or lodge accommodation throughout the trek, and three meals per day on the trek itself (breakfast, lunch, dinner). Not included: international flights, Nepal visa fees, travel and rescue insurance, personal trekking gear, alcoholic beverages, tips for guides and porters, and any costs arising from emergency evacuation. We outline this clearly in every quote.
